The South Lebak Mitigation Group (GMLS) Collaborates with Bayah Dome National Geopark

The South Lebak Mitigation Group (GMLS), in collaboration with the Bayah Dome Geopark, carried out an action involving the planting of 100 sea pine (Casuarina equisetifolia) trees and the installation of evacuation and mitigation signboards at the Karang Taraje Geosite today, December 21, 2025.

The activity was attended directly by the Director of GMLS, Mr. Anis; Hadi Nugraha from the Bayah Dome Geopark Management Body; representatives of religious counselors from the Bayah Subdistrict Office of Religious Affairs (KUA); the village military officer (Babinsa) of Darmasari Village; and several environmental activist communities.

This action is expected to motivate the community to care for the environment by preserving and protecting it as part of the Earth’s heritage, which constitutes a very important ecological entity.

Karang Taraje Geosite is one of the valuable geodiversity sites with strong appeal for tourists. However, it is also highly vulnerable to tsunamis, making the installation of evacuation signboards necessary as an early mitigation measure.

It is hoped that in the future, more parties will contribute to preserving, caring for, and respecting the environment as the place where we live.
